The Student Success Center offers free academic support, such as tutoring and study skills seminars to undergraduate students at Virginia Tech. We also have programs and activities for students who are already succeeding academically, and simply want to enrich their educational experiences at Virginia Tech.
Our main office is located on the first floor of Femoyer Hall where we also have a classroom, conference room, tutoring space and staff offices. Additional staff offices are located on other floors in Femoyer. Please check at our main desk in 110 if you have any questions.
Now Recruiting Tutors for 2015-2016 Academic Year
The Student Success Center provides free tutoring for a variety of 1000 and 2000 level courses and a limited number of upper level courses. Tutors are especially needed in the following areas: Math, Physics, Chemistry, Business Information Technology, Statics and select Engineering courses.

The Student Success Center is currently seeking applicants for our Peer Academic Mentors program
Peer Academic Mentors (PAMs) are a source of academic support for fellow students throughout their time at Virginia Tech. Mentors help students to develop effective study skills and strategies on an individual basis, design and facilitate academic skills workshops, introduce students to academic support services, and guide students through short- and long-term planning. Mentors may also be asked to work with first-year students to help ensure a smooth transition to life at Virginia Tech and/or represent The Student Success Center at various campus events. Applicants should have a strong desire to help their peers be successful and support The Student Success Center's vision to promote academic excellence and enrich the overall undergraduate experience.
Up to 15 sophomores, juniors, and seniors will be selected to serve as peer academic mentors and representatives for The Student Success Center for 2015-16. If selected, students will receive a grant of $1,200 per year ($600 per semester, applied directly toward their tuition and fees). The application deadline is Friday, April 3rd by 12noon.

Seminar Series on Academic Success
The Student Success Center offers a series of weekly, one hour seminars on a variety of topics related to academic success. The program is designed to provide students with a low pain, big gain opportunity to learn strategies to develop the academic skills and personal attributes needed to be successful at the college level. In addition to providing information on a select topic, the seminar atmosphere offers students the opportunity to interact and ask questions related to their individual concerns about the subject. Most seminar topics are offered two times a week for a two week period, allowing students different times to attend.
All seminars are free! No pre-registration is necessary, however space is limited so students should plan to arrive early.
